When you rummage in the archives, you run the risk of waking sleeping dogs.
My first works with archives took the form of interrogations on the status of document as evidence: on representation and misrepresentation. Is it due to mere discontinuity or poor inventories that certain histories seem to become obscured? Recent works with archives and collections extend to a search through which I try to relate the disparate and seemingly irrelevant, unsilence the silenced and imagine the missing stories. In ‚Monuments & Fictions‘ I bring together those of my works that question in order to imagine and take apart discontinuous, heterogenous and fragmented stories to create narratives that resist the idea of a single, coherent, all-transparent version of events.
